Trinity Baptist Church began on October 19, 1975, with 43 starting members. They began meeting in the vacant Holy Lutheran Church, then located at the corner of Highways 221 and 421. The new congregation rented this space for only $1 per month plus utilities and repairs! Membership began to grow and the church quickly realized it would need to purchase land and build it's own facility. After months of dedicated labor and vision, the grounds of our current facility were transformed into to a magnificent building site. On November 9, 1980, the current facility and its original campus were dedicated. In November 1998, additional property was purchased for future expansion.
Throughout the first two decades of Trinity, were several milestones that shaped who we have become. In the first decade the church began to sense God's calling to reach the nations. During 1985 &1986 Trinity began it's first church plant in Haiti. The missions effort continued to grow under new leadership in the 90's. Trinity helped establish a Laotian mission and sponsored two new churches, Community Christian Fellowship in Taylorsville, NC and Highlands Community Church in Jefferson, NC. The church also began supporting several overseas missionaries during this time. During the summer of 2000 our church sent a team of adults, youth, & even children as missionaries to the country of Kazakhstan. For nearly a decade we have also trained and sent out short-term mission groups throughout the southeast with our drama and music ministry. The most recent endeavor was a trip to Acuna, Mexico where a diverse group of 18 ministered during the summer of 2005.
God has also blessed Trinity with a region-wide ministry known as a loving place where all people from all walks of life can come and experience God. During the mid 1990's we began to see exponential growth as a church both in numbers and in ministry. It was at this point that former Senior Pastor, Dr. Wade Ivey, helped the church transition from a traditional to contemporary style of worship. This exciting time of growth and re-structuring helped prepare the church for the future.
Trinity continues to grow building upon its rich history, and most importantly upon the foundation of Jesus Christ. 2005 marks our 30th anniversary, and the future looks even brighter. Our vision is clear and our calling compels us. May God bless the future of Trinity as we continue to bring the life of Christ to people, and people to life in Jesus Christ.
